Description

1/48 F4F-4 Wildcat (Battle of Midway)
Tamiya

The Wildcat was America's main carrier-based plane at the beginning of World War 2. While not as maneuverable as the Zero, it was much tougher thanks to more armor and self-sealing fuel tanks. While the Zero would burst into a ball of fire quite easily, the Wildcat could keep flying after suffering massive amounts of damage. Although overshadowed by the much more powerful Hellcat, the Wildcat was a solid platform for improvement with the advent of the FM-2, which had a more powerful engine and larger tail.

This model depicts the F4F-4, which had six .50 calibre machine guns, and fought at the battle of Midway.

The model is the standard Tamiya "shake and bake" that goes together with no problems at all. A true joy to build. Photo etch by Eduard has been added, mostly in the cockpit. Paint is Gunze Aqueous. Powders by Bragdon and Tamiya.

I built this in 2008.

nice job on the weathering and aging of the model.
